It is always so fun meeting a new family and having the opportunity to capture an important season in their lives! This maternity session was my first time working with the Awatt Family and it was such a warm and special experience. Adelola and Best are originally from Nigeria! They are expecting their first baby after some difficult years of infertility. The Awatts are so excited to be welcoming a baby boy into their family and I am so honored that they asked me to capture their excitement on camera!

The session took place at my studio here in the heart of the Museum District of Houston. The space is full of natural light, antique finishes, and a clean neutral feel. It is a great option for maternity sessions, giving the client a blank slate and allowing them to create any aesthetic they would like. We kept the Awatt’s shoot simple, clean, and elegant and I am so happy with how the pictures turned out. You can see and feel how thrilled Adelola and Best are to be adding a sweet baby to their family!

I cannot get over how stunning Adelola is! The lovely seafoam green dress she brought was just perfect and went well with the crisp white of the studio, and her custom headpiece was such a unique touch. Adelola absolutely radiates elegance! I thought Best looked great in his simple white button-up and khakis. Their outfits were perfect for the look they were wanting.

The cream dress was one from my studio and she looked absolutely beautiful in it. I love offering some in-house wardrobe options for moms to try. Picking out outfits for a photo session can be extremely stressful which is why my studio offers a finely curated selection of over 70 dresses for moms to pick from! I want mom to feel her absolute best when I am taking pictures of her, and an outfit she loves always helps.

My studio is located in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston. I really love studio sessions! Being here keeps things low stress, comfortable and relaxed for everyone. With studio sessions, you don’t have to worry about keeping your hose clean or scouting out locations, you just have to show up and smile!

This maternity session was such a delight and I am so thankful to the Awatt family for choosing me to capture these special memories for their growing family.
