My studio in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston, Texas has been busy, busy, busy! This darling little brick home-turned-commercial photography space has been filled with smiles, giggles, and loving families, just as I intended when I built it.

This is one of my recent sessions with the Themanis family. I’ve worked with these guys for over four years photographing their evolving family! Their daughter Adira’s newborn session was one of the first of my career, and then we discovered they were actually nearby neighbors of ours that we just hadn’t met yet! The serendipity surrounding our relationship is just incredible.

Most newborn sessions happen when the baby is about a week old, and this one might have set a record for me as baby Alarik was only four days old! Leta, his mom, really wanted to make sure that we were able to capture all the tiny new, newborn details before he started growing. They just grow so fast once they’re here! I was absolutely on board with this plan, and he did fantastic. So did his older sister! She is such an adoring, number one fan and I loved getting to document their new relationship. She wanted to be very involved with the positioning and posing and ensured her baby brother was covered in kisses during the entire shoot.

Both Leta and Adira borrowed outfits from my studio wardrobe, and I love their choices! They look beautiful, and it’s so fun to play dress-up!

One of my favorite things about this session was the family it was with. I love clients that stick with me for years and years as my career evolves. It builds a relationship that makes our sessions so much more meaningful and helps me to feel like part of their family. Seeing the babies grow up over the years is a gift that I’m so grateful for!
